Wireless Connection
Question: How do I configure my wireless connection to use the BYUH LAN?
Answer: Well, if you know how to configure a wireless connection, then the SSID
is "byuh" without the quotation marks.
STEPS TO CONFIGURE THE WIRELESS CONNECTION (PC):
- Right-click on My Network Places and go to Properties.
- Right-click on Wireless Network Connection and go to Properties
- Choose the "Wireless Networks" tab. Make sure the "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings" check box is checked.
- Under the "Preferred networks" section, click on the "Add" button.
- Type in "byuh"without the quotation marks in the Network name (SSID) field.
- Make sure under Data encryption, it is disabled.
- Click OK
- Lastly, click on the "Advanced" button and choose the 2nd option and don't check the "Automatically connect to non-preferred networks". Click the close button and close the remaining network windows.
If there is a wireless connection, you'll receive a message showing the
signal strength at the bottom right hand side of the screen.
STEPS TO CONFIGURE THE WIRELESS CONNECTION (Mac):
- Click on your Airport icon and go to “Other”
- In the “Network Name” field type in “byuh” and click “OK”
- Make sure that the “Wireless Security” field is set to “None”
